What is Elterngeld?

Maternity benefit received by parents after the birth of a child.

What types of Elterngeld are there?

Basiselterngeld (Use it from 2 to 12 months, best option for unemployed parents)
Elterngeld Plus (You can use it for up to 28 months, useful for parents who work part-time)
Partnerschaftsbonus (In case both parents work part-time)

How much is Elterngeld?

At least €300 and at most €1,800 per month. You will receive €300 if you were not employed, and a maximum of €1,800 if 65% to 67% of your salary exceeds that amount.

How long does the right to payment of Elterngeld last?

Depending on which model you have chosen. From a minimum of 2 months to a maximum of 24 months.
